Karla T. Torpy

A Florida native and Brevard County resident since 1970, Karla Turner Torpy has been with the law firm of Moletteire & Torpy since itís formation in 1995.

Since graduating with honors from Florida State University College of Law in December 1993, Karla has devoted her law practice to representing people who are injured due to someone elseís negligence. Those individuals include victims of automobile collisions, dog bites, slips, trips, falls, falling objects, food poisoning, foreign objects in food, and the like.

Karla is serving her second term on the Brevard County Bar Associationís Board of Directors, where sheís had the privilege of chairing the Professionalism Committee. Her participation and the Boardís efforts are designed to promote professionalism, service and camaraderie among itís members at work and in the community.

Other professional memberships she holds include the Florida Justice Association, The Florida Bar and The American Association for Justice. Karla is also a member of the Federal District Court Southern District of Florida Trial bar.

Karla is a proud graduate of Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, FL. She also attended the University of Florida, where she graduated from the College of Journalism with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations. Before attending law school, she was employed by Gainesville Regional Utilities in Gainesville, Harris Semiconductor in Palm Bay, World Class, Inc. in Melbourne and the Melbourne Downtown Progress Association in a variety of communications/public relations positions.

In the community, Karla puts her life experience to work with local agencies serving families and individuals. Sheís been on the Board of Directors of the Family Counseling Center since 1999, and was chairman of the board in 2006 and 2007. FCC provides mental health counseling, credit counseling, substance abuse therapy and other important services that enable its clients to function better in their personal lives, in their relationships, and as contributing members of our community.

Other interests include training and participating in triathlons, kayaking, shopping and occasionally cooking. She chooses active vacations that typically include hiking and biking in wild and scenic locales and always some new adventure.
